Face Mapping
The CGSS face mapping system is an AutoCAD based add-on product
to allow the production of high quality, spatially accurate and
intelligent face maps. The face maps originate from field data
digitised from in-situ mapping, field sketches, scanned photographs
or traced from digital photographs.
Facemaps are generated in plan in a standard AutoCAD drawing
and can be dimensionally corrected to surveyed data points as
required. The map is then positioned in 3D space by using a surveyed
crest and toe, a azimuth and dip or by simply dragging and locating
the face manually. All structural, lithological and geotech data
can be added at the 2D stage and they will be dragged into position
with the face, or they can be added once the face is in its true
position.
The system generates 3 dimensional spatially accurate full scale
models of the faces, with lithology, structure and geotech data
such as Rock Mass Rating and Rock Quality Designation information
stored on the face map and available for export in any format
to any other modelling software. The RMR zone data is calculated
on data input, and the results can then be attributed to unique
slope designs and limit blasting procedures. Structural data for
faults, joints, joint sets, contacts, foliation and bedding features
are collected, stored on the face map and can be exported to other
software or databases for further analysis. Face maps are stored
as full 3D AutoCAD drawings and can be referenced into any other
AutoCAD drawing. Face maps can be individually referenced or globally
attached by specifying a 3D box and all maps in that area will
be automatically referenced into any other AutoCAD drawing.
Requires AutoCAD R14.
